FESTIVE GUIDED TOURS

Have a festive day out and join expert guides to discover how Queen Victoria and her family celebrated Christmas. See the principal royal ground floor rooms of Osborne House decorated for Christmas and view Queen Victoria’s private rooms on the first floor. Festive fare in the café & great Christmas shopping in the gift shop. Last tour at 2.30pm on Saturdays & Sundays, 6.30pm on Wednesdays. Tours are not available Sat 6 – Sun 7 & Wed 24 December.

ROMAN BEER SAMPLING

In the build up to the festive season, we'll be offering visitors free tastings of Roman Beer, made from Spelt, an ancient grain favoured by the Romans for beer making. Enjoy the Gladiator Spelt Beer, along with a mince pie during weekends at Hadrian's Wall's supply base to the Northern Frontier. Plus, whilst admiring our Roman collection, artefacts and ruins, pick up some unusual Christmas gifts in our shop.

MEDIEVAL CHRISTMAS MARKET

Go medieval this Christmas by browsing the range of historic market stalls selling a variety of festive goods and gifts amid the grand surroundings of Lincoln Medieval Bishops' Palace! Transport yourself back in time as you chat to traders in medieval costume amid period music and buy something extra special for your loved ones.

CHRISTMAS WREATH MAKING

Get ready for the festive season with our Christmas wreath making workshop. Led by our expert, learn about the different techniques used to make a wreath. Get creative and make something special to take home with you. (Over 16s only)

CAROL CONCERT

Join in the Christmas celebrations at Audley End with carols sung by the Christ's College Choir, Cambridge, in the stunning surroundings of the Great Hall. A glass of wine or soft drink is included in the ticket price.

MRS BEETON'S VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS

A very tasty Victorian Christmas at Belsay! When we think of Christmas, we think of dinner. Roast turkey, Brussels sprouts and hot mulled wine, 'tis the season to make merry. This Christmas, come back in time to 1851 (1861*) and meet the team, as they plan a Victorian Christmas to remember. Come and listen as Belsay's own Mrs Beeton plans the Christmas feast, pick up take home tips, and bring all your thorny culinary questions for our Victorian cooks to answer. You can even take home recipes to try yourself!

NADELIK, A CORNISH CHRISTMAS

Celebrate Christmas the Cornish way with fireside tales, music and dancing.

Nadelik was celebrated Cornwall when Christmas festivities fell out of favour across most of Britain in the late 18th and early 19th century. Join us at Pendennis Castle for a weekend of fun which will showcase some of the traditions which helped to keep the festive spirit alive. In the castle keep, there will be a rolling programme of song, dance and storytelling to keep you entertained amid the seasonally decorated rooms with a fire lit in the old kitchen hearth.

Seasonal festive singing with fine Yorkshire choirs in the entrance hall at Brodsworth. Do wrap up warm - the entrance hall is unheated.

FIRE & LIFE DEMONSTRATIONS

Guy Hagg demonstrates the items that were essential to Neolithic life. Guy's demonstration covers fire lighting, game preparation with flint tools, early cooking methods, making weapons, bone and antler tools and the everyday utensils used at this time.
