Customer story: How printed.com helped me to grow my business

Written by abi@printed.com on . Posted in Programme Launches

Hello, I’m Flora Fricker, and I like to draw, paint, and make things. I’m 18 and live by the sea in Braunton, North Devon. I’m currently in my year out, having just finished college back in June where I studied an art and design extended diploma, specializing in Graphic Design and Illustration. In September, I’ll be moving down to Falmouth, Cornwall to study a Graphic Design degree at Falmouth University.

In the meantime, I’ve been developing my own little business, Flora Fricker – Design & Illustration. My aim for this year is to expand my business, develop some new interesting products, get my stuff seen, to travel in search of inspiration, and to see how well I do on my own.

Six months in, I’ve already produced a new range of greeting cards, illustrated art badges, birthday badges, illustrated pocket mirrors, and note card stationary sets. I couldn’t have achieved this without printed.com; I used them to print all of my greeting cards, note cards, and stickers. I did a lot of research to find a printing company that used quality papers and inks, to create a great product, a printer that cared about their customers and that printed in the UK! printed.com is just that! Their website is also so easy to use, as I’ve found some print companies can be confusing. The layout of their website is clear with nice big headings, and you can get an instant price. The cost of printing is also very reasonable, which is so important to a small business like my mine, as every penny matters.

My inspiration comes from my natural surroundings; the forest that sits beside my pink cottage, the rugged coastline of North Devon and the beautiful wild flowers that bloom in the spring. I also have a great sense of adventure and dream of travelling the world, and living in a log cabin far up in the mountains.

My favourite medium is watercolour, a very fine pen, usually 0.05 and sometimes a sprinkle of glitter. My illustrations always start with the traditional methods and then I will sometimes manipulate them on the computer, using Photoshop or Illustrator.

I have many more ideas and projects, that I can’t wait to get started on, and with the help from printed.com I’ll be on my way!
