Mixed Cases

Southern Italian Reds £89.99
You'll save £13 when you treat yourself to these rich, rewarding reds from southern Italy

If you like your reds ripe, smooth and concentrated, you'll love these southern Italian reds. Star grapes here are Primitivo and Negroamaro, two inky-black varieties that thrive in the Mediterranean sun. And your star wine here is Pillastro, a succulent Primitivo that's a permanent fixture in the annual Customer Poll. Tenuta Albrizza sees Primitivo blended with cassis-rich Cabernet while Fortium is a marriage of Negroamaro and aromatic Malvasia. Villa Quinziana and Colucci Riserva are pure, old-vine Negroamaro while Tarantella is a supple, plummy Merlot.

Red Wine

The Chocolatier Shiraz 2011 £95.88 (12 bottles), £47.94 (6 bottles)
Gorgeous Cape Shiraz - rich, ripe and spicy, and with unapologetically mouthfilling flavour

Shiraz is best known as Australia's flagship grape, but, notsurprisingly, it also thrives in South Africa, which is similarlyblessed with plentiful sunshine. Jancis Robinson MW notes, "Shiraz is by far the most fashionable vine variety in South Africa today." This tasty red is named for Von Dant, a chocolatier famous not only for his love of wine and decadent chocolate creations but also for his great and meticulously groomed moustache. In his own words, "given enough wine and chocolate I could rule the world".Perfectly ripe, juicy, concentrated Shiraz grapes have been handselected from some of South Africa's premium wine regions toproduce the perfect accompaniment to apricot lamb, chickencurry or, of course, chocolate fondant!

White Wine

Limited Release Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011 £119.88 (12 bottles), £59.94 (6 bottles)
Awesome quality, unbeatable value - the smartest Kiwi Savignon steal on our books!

Dr Tony Jordan is one of the big names in Australian and New Zealand wine and is revered the world over as a consultant. We've worked with him for years and when he occasionally comes to us with an amazing deal - usually on a very limited parcel of fine wine - we know it's absolutely top end stuff. Always. The winery behind this Limited Release had a little surplus Sauvignon that it was happy to sell at a discount to clear space for the next vintage. But at this price it understandably didn't want its premium name mentioned. This is clearly a fine wine, displaying vibrant notes of guava and passionfruit plus zesty gooseberry and citrus notes. Worth saving for a special dinner. Serve chilled with a seafood salad or grilled swordfish.

Champagne & Sparkling

Roche Lacour 2010 £119.88 (12 bottles), £59.94 (6 bottles)
Award winning fizz from Limoux, arguably the oldest sparkling wine enclave in the world

We have offered this exemplary wine for over two decades now and the multitude of awards over the years - and the 5-star reviews - speak volumes. It is our bestselling sparkler by a mile. Roche Lacour winemaker Laurent Mingaud works his magic beneath the cool hills of Limoux. Here, the monks of Saint Hilaire are said to have mastered sparkling wine methods in 1531, centuries ahead of Dom Pérignon. Bottles back then were fragile and didn't travel, so their success remained a secret. The cuvée is rich in Chardonnay - like Champagne - and the wine is part oak fermented - just like Krug! It's an expensive technique (so rarely practised) yet important for extra depth and complexity. Enjoy on its own or with deserving crudités and canapés.
