Specially selected New Zealand Sauvignons plus THREE bottles of iconic Cloudy Bay - SAVE £28!

When wines are entered into competition, they're tasted blind against hundreds of their peers. To win Gold requires something extra-special. Your champion reds comprise mature Spanish Gran Reserva, a deep, spicy treat from the Minervois, Bruce Jack's Dragon Tree and Super-Tuscan Saracosa. The whites have been so popular we've had to find you another Gold-medal Sauvignon from France. So you'll now enjoy Hervé Sabardiel's La Belle Saison alongside the amazing Shingle Peak Sauvignon from Marlborough - but you'll have to hurry, before we run out of anything else!

Red Wine

Château Portal Cuvée Jérôme 2010 £95.88 (12 bottles), £47.94 (6 bottles)
Fabulous, top cuvée Minervois proudly sporting two Gold Medals

Château Portal is one of the leading estates in the Minervois with a history dating back to the 11th century. The property was home to French nobility throughout the Middle Ages and to this day retains a restored 8th century chapel. Jérôme Portal's 80 hectares of vines grow right next to the region's top cru, La Livinière.Cuvée Jérôme is crafted mainly from rich and spicy Syrah supported by raspberry rich Grenache and spicy Carignan, the incredibly intense flavours of which are due to rare 100 year old vines. The wine is aged for a year in French oak barrels, lightly toasted over a naked flame to impart mocha character and extra complexity.Serve this splendid southern French red with traditional cassoulet or roast shoulder of lamb.

White Wine

Sunday Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2011 £95.88 (12 bottles), £47.94 (6 bottles)
Classic gooseberry-and-tropical-fruit-scented Sauvignon from its New World capital, Marlborough

Sunday Bay is a classic Kiwi Sauvignon from Marlborough - top region for this grape - and a terrific, environmentally aware estate, that's well known and highly regarded at home and internationally. In fact one of its Sauvignons was awarded Best New Zealand Sauvignon at the International Wine Challenge 2012. We can't name them because Sunday Bay is a great value exclusive just for us. Picking grapes in the cool temperatures of the night captures maximum fruit and freshness, while a little ageing on lees (the natural residue of fermentation) adds to the flavours of this vibrant, gooseberry and tropical fruit scented white. Spicy seafood dishes are a favourite partner with this lively Sauvignon Blanc but it's also great with salmon quiche.

Champagne & Sparkling

Roche Lacour 2010 £119.88 (12 bottles), £59.94 (6 bottles)
Award winning fizz from Limoux, arguably the oldest sparkling wine enclave in the world

We have offered this exemplary wine for over two decades now and the multitude of awards over the years - and the 5-star reviews - speak volumes. It is our bestselling sparkler by a mile. Roche Lacour winemaker Laurent Mingaud works his magic beneath the cool hills of Limoux. Here, the monks of Saint Hilaire are said to have mastered sparkling wine methods in 1531, centuries ahead of Dom Pérignon. Bottles back then were fragile and didn't travel, so their success remained a secret. The cuvée is rich in Chardonnay - like Champagne - and the wine is part oak fermented - just like Krug! It's an expensive technique (so rarely practised) yet important for extra depth and complexity. Enjoy on its own or with deserving crudités and canapés.
