Red Wine

THE FOREFATHER GRAN RESERVA MALBEC SHIRAZ 2010 £107.88 (12 bottles), £10.99 (1 bottle)
Sometimes a change of address works wonders! Take Malbec. This sturdy workhorse of southwest France - where it is known as Cot - is famous for the dark, lip staining wines of Cahors. In Argentina it has filled out, ripened and burst onto the stage in full-bodied glory. More lip smacking than ever. Miguel Amado Pouget is the man to thank. He's the French viticulturist who brought Malbec here back in 1853. The Forefather of all that flavour to come! So we named this wine in honour of him.Top estate Familia Zuccardi took perfectly ripe, old-vine Malbec and added a touch of spicy Shiraz for a big silky fruit basket of a wine that's smoothed round the edges by two years' barrel ageing. Perfect for over-sized steak - a speciality of Argentina.

White Wine

SPLIT ROCK SAUVIGNON BLANC 2011 £95.88 (12 bottles), £47.94 (6 bottles), £9.99 (1 bottle)
Named after the landmark Split Apple Rock in Able Tasman National Park, this wine is from Hermann Seifried, who built his winery on the South Island in 1973 with the help of his local church. He'd only arrived in New Zealand three years earlier from Austria, via Germany (where he studied winemaking) and South Africa. He met and married Kiwi lass Agnes Wilkins, and two years later they realised their shared dream of growing grapes. 1976 was their maiden vintage and, 35 years on, the Seifrieds are still going strong and racking up a host of awards. Gooseberry-fresh Split Rock slips down a treat on its own and partners dishes such as prawns with a spicy salsa, a nectarine and haloumi salad, grilled chicken, poached salmon or creamy pasta.

Champagne & Sparkling

LAITHWAITE CHAMPAGNE BRUT PREMIER CRU NV £131.94 (6 bottles), £21.99 (1 bottle)

What's more, it was matured for 30 months before release - double the required minimum - ensuring a really luxurious character. Indeed, this is the bubbly you'll be served if you're ever lucky enough to travel on the Orient Express!Made two thirds from Chardonnay and one third from Pinot Noir, this elegant, Gold medal winning Champagne is perfect for any special occasion, served with a range of fine canapés.
