Guingate Sword
This Blackfriars Sword is inspired by a sword that was found in the mudbanks of the River Thames near Bull Wharf, Blackfriars. It is dated to around 1340-50 and is a typical knight's sword of the period. It is now held in the Royal Armouries collection.

Pompeii Pugio Dagger
The Pugio was a soldier's dagger that was used as a sidearm by Roman Legionaries and Auxiliaries at the time of the Roman Conquest of Britain. It seems likely that is was designed predominantly as a thrusting weapon in much the same way as the larger 'Gladius' sword. It is understood that Pugio daggers were used in the assassination of Julius Caesar.

Corbridge Lorica Segmentata
The Corbridge Lorica Segmentata was found as part of a larger hoard during the 1964 excavations of Corbridge Roman Town near to Hadrian's Wall. Dating from between AD122 and 138, the contents of the hoard were found in excellent condition, due to the way that they were buried in an iron-bound, leather-covered wooden chest.

Gallic G Special Command Helmet
This style of Roman Legionary Helmet or "galea" dates from the 1st Century BC to the 2nd century AD. It is of the "Imperial Gallic G" type, a style influenced heavily by the craftsmen of Gaul (France), This style of helmet was no doubt worn by Roman Legionaries during Julius Caesar's invasion of Britain and was worn by the soldiers that garrisoned Hadrian's Wall.
