Footasylum are very excited to announce the launch of Nike's brand new Air Max 95 OG's!
Twenty years after the first release, the original Air Max 95 from Nike is back with every iconic detail intact. First imagined in the early '90s by Nike footwear designer Sergio Lozano, the look of the 95 pushed sneaker boundaries. The first running silhouette by Lozano, it took heavy inspiration from the human anatomy, creating a silhouette that looks as good as it performs.
The new design has four key improvements:
1) Mesh Upper - Temperature regulation is the primary role of the mesh panels of this shoe, much like the skin helps regulate body temperature.
2) Nylon Eyestays - The eye stays hold the foot in place and allow the foot to naturally swell during use, very similar to the rib cage.
3) Gradiated Upper - The striated upper represents the microanatomy of a single skeletal muscle.
4) Outsole - The outsole houses, and protects the Air-Sole unit and functions like the human spine, which houses the spinal cord.
The OG is unmistakeable, with it's grey and neon colour scheme. Grey was one of Nike's worst selling colours at the time, and Lozano took that as a challenge. The signature neon yellow was chosen as a nod to Nike's heritage defining racing kit, and the customer response so far has been unbelievable!
