Facts & Finds

Our Lancashire collection contains records for a number of famous Lancastrians including James Hargreaves, the inventor of the spinning jenny, one of the key developments of the early Industrial Revolution. Records show Hargreaves, an illiterate weaver, was baptised in the parish of St James, Haslingden, in 1720.
