Best of Burgundy A
Pouilly-Fuisse Aux Scelles, Marcel Couturier
This is one of the finest Pouilly-Fuiss, I remember tasting. It is the purity and depth that just bowls me over. The youthful colour, greeny gold (almost Grand Cru Chablis like), the nose is a little closed but quite zesty, minerally - no new oak.
Bourgogne Hautes Cotes de Nuits
Pound for pound this is by far the best Burgundy that I have come across this year. Lovely, clean, ripe fruit - redcurrants and red berries, fine tannins and beautifully balanced, it has a genuine Cote dOr character to it.
