Ch. La Rose-Pourret, St. Emilion Grand Cru
Ch. La Rose-Pourret, St. Emilion Grand Cru
The Warion family have owned the 8 hectare property for over a century, and these immaculate sandy, iron-rich vineyards lie in the shadow of the famous clock tower just outside the town walls. Merlot makes up 70% of the plantings, with Cabernet Franc and a small amount of Cab. Sauvignon, and vines average over 40 years of age. Yields are kept low, fermentation is temperature-controlled, followed by a year and a half oak maturation. Classic St. Emilion without the Grand Cru price tag!

Grand Vin de Glenelly, Glenelly Estate
Grand Vin de Glenelly, Glenelly Estate
Chateau Pichon-Lalande comes to the Cape! The various grapes were aged separately for six months in French oak (1/3 new), then blended and aged a further six months in the same barrels. Showing beautifully at the moment; dark Syrah fruit on the nose, a hint of black pepper, then more Cabernet on the palate – sleek, savoury blackcurrant; hints of coffee and earth – with a great balance of ripe tannins and balanced acidity.

Grenache, Dom. Bachellery
Grenache, Dom. Bachellery
Quite intense black cherry colour. Bright, lifted nose of ripe red and black fruits, earthy spice - good mouthfeel, the tannins are grainy and soft, black fruits, kirsch, hints of raspberry perhaps. Good finish. Clean, balanced, well-made and with the freshness that Grenache can sometimes lack.
