Baroness Kramer Gets A Cuddle From Guide Dogs

On Tuesday 22 July a very special birthday present was presented to Transport Minister, Baroness Kramer, a guide dog puppy named after her. She instantly fell in love with her furry namesake, who will go on to train as a guide dog and in the future join the thousands of guide dogs who help visually impaired people live independently.

The Guide Dogs campaigns team presented the Minister with the bundle of fur to raise awareness of the need for talking buses, to help puppy Kramer’s future owner and other people with sight loss to use this vital form of public transport. The puppy was presented to Baroness Kramer along with a birthday card signed by almost 900 people calling for the Government to change the law to introduce talking buses, which provide audio and visual information about bus journeys, across the country.

Why we need your help

- Every hour, another person in the UK goes blind.

- 180,000 blind and partially sighted people rarely leave home alone. Guide Dogs is committed to changing this.

- A visually impaired person could be partnered with as many as eight dogs in their lifetime, and each partnership costs £35,500.

Please donate now and help us train more guide dogs. The more guide dogs we train, the more lives we can change.
