First of all, I’m going to fall on my sword here. I’d like to apologise for any inconvenience and hassle that the closure of hmvshop.co.uk caused you guys. It was not something we were expecting to do and we should have given you fair notice.
We pride ourselves on working differently to others – working with affiliates as partners, rather than channels – it’s not what you should expect when working with us. And we’re sorry to have let you down.
For the past several months, working together, we built up hmvshop.co.uk to be a credible destination of choice for music, movie and game fans in the UK and beyond. Things were going well and we were readily preparing a programme of promotions and incentives throughout Q4.
Needless to say, none of this would have been possible without your support, and the support of the team at Affiliate Window.
Unfortunately for reasons I can’t detail here, the business has taken the decision to close hmvshop.co.uk in the short term. Or at least our UK focused hmv website.
Our Irish version of the same hmv site – hmv.ie continues to operate, as do the other four ecommerce websites we currently maintain built on the same platform.
Many of which continue to ship into the UK but not under the hmvshop brand.
The decision to close down hmvshop was taken late last week, and a holding page put up on Friday. We were in the process of informing all affiliates when the site went down and for this we’re really sorry.
Needless to say, we will honour our commitments to you guys and pay all outstanding commissions. The hmvshop.co.uk site is still operating, it’s just hidden for the time being. We are also going to link this with our other sites on affiliate window – which should help to ensure you don’t lose out on any sales that you may have otherwise generated.
Introducing hmv | Xtra-vision.co.uk
I do have some good news however.
We have relaunched our UK focused Xtra-vision website and added this to Affiliate Window with the same commission terms - Xtra-vision.co.uk
We’d love you to come across to our new site – this site has been around for over 10 years. This will continue regardless of what happens in the future with hmv UK. We were always planning to launch this on Affiliate Window even though this would compete with hmvshop.co.uk.
Xtra-vision.co.uk now looks, feels and acts just like hmvshop.co.uk and any customers who have previously transacted at hmvshop.co.uk will be able to login without needing to re-register.
We are adding a block at the top of every page on site to reinforce this fact to visitors.
