Yesterday the capital played host to the Virgin London Marathon, which saw elite athletes battling for the top spots and a place at the Olympics, as well as 29 new Guinness World Records set by creative amateurs. Our favourites were the new records for the fastest marathon on stilts (set at 6 hours 50 minutes by a brother and sister team) and the fastest marathon dressed as a dairy product (set by a giant ice cream at 3 hours 37 minutes). As the countdown continues to the highlight of the affiliate sporting calendar, we have started to release profiles of the contending teams who will be battling it out for the coveted SuperGames trophy. Get to know the competition by following our blog. Savoo and Quidco have already let us in on their team secrets and they are looking like tough challengers. Quidco Hotspurs are so confident they won’t even be training and have selected Superstyling, Groove Armada as their team anthem. Savoo A.O.N. Allstars on the other hand will be taking inspiration from Brian Jacks (of Superstars fame) and Dr Frank N Furter and getting some extreme training done in Gdansk! One survey that has already reaped rewards, was run by Savoo earlier this year. Alongside Affiliate Window, they carried out research to look at how the British public were using discount codes across different verticals, demographics and regions. The findings were published last week in the form of the ever-popular infographic and showed a very healthy growth in voucher code demand and use. Find out more about the results and see the full infographic by clicking here.
Finally, if the marathon has got you in a charitable mood, one of our advertisers has a great cause that you can get involved with. Experience Mad’s Customer Service Manager Michelle Hughes will be jumping out of a plane in aid of the Essex Air Ambulance on May 13th, and she would appreciate any support that people are able to offer. As well as offering a skydive like the one Michelle will be doing at a discounted price, Experience Mad are also currently running a 5% discount code for affiliates valid on all skydiving and parachuting experiences. Click here to read about Michelle’s story and find out more about the programme.
Until next time,
