pcworld.co.uk are predicting record numbers of shoppers will go online to snap up sale bargains on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, ahead of the Boxing Day in-store sales which are again set to be ground-breaking.
Both PC World will kick off their sale, online, at 7pm on 24th December while in-store sales will launch on Boxing Day morning. Last year, PC World saw over 350,000 customers shop online on Christmas Eve between 7pm and midnight, with a staggering 1.7million clicks across both websites on Christmas Day. This year, the retailers are predicting a similar surge in online customers as people wise-up to the opportunity of bagging a bargain before the stores open on Boxing Day – around 40% of online transactions are expected to be made by tablets and smartphones alone.
While Black Friday is becoming increasingly bigger in the UK, the January sales event is still the biggest event of the year for the retailers. This year, sales on Boxing Day are predicted to far outstretch Black Friday and while record numbers of customers will be shopping online over the festive period, purchases in-store are still expected to dominate the shopping season.
PC World are predicting that TVs will continue to be extremely popular with items flying off the e-shelves at this time of year. The sales will kick off with massive savings on Smart, 3D and mega-screen TVs, including 50” TVs from under £500. Large kitchen appliances also prove to be popular, with deals including the Zanussi ZWNB6140L washing machine down from £379.99 to £249.99 and the Rangemaster Kitchener KCH90DFFB now priced at £999 (reduced from £1399 – saving £400). There are also huge savings on laptops, including touch screen and convertible laptops, as well as on tablets.
PC World stores will open their doors from 8am on 26th December, with shoppers taking advantage of a huge variety of money-saving offers. Key deals, both in-store and online, include the Samsung UE60F4300 60” Smart LED TV with Freeview HD for £999, saving £500; the Daewoo DRS30SMI Silver American Style fridge freezer selling for £489.99, reduced from £599.99; the Fujifilm XF1 12mp, 4x optical zoom camera with WiFi, selling at £129.99 – a saving of £70 – and the Garmin Nuvi 2597LMT 5” Sat Nav for £139.99 instead of £189.99. The retailers are expecting over 1 million customers to hit their stores on Boxing Day.
