The 1939 Register is packed with famous figures from British and world history. Even the Royal family received a visit from the enumerator. “The King, His Majesty” can be found at Buckingham Palace along with “The Queen, Her Majesty” and various other members of the Royal Household. George VI’s occupation was listed as “King of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Commonwealth” and his wife’s as “Queen consort of the United Kingdom and the Dominions”.
