Google set tongues wagging last week as the multinational corporation announced that it will be closing down its affiliate marketing network (GAN) over the next few months.  J.J Hirschke, Head of Google Affiliate Network commented; “…we’ve made the difficult decision to retire Google Affiliate Network and focus on other products…”.

With the consistent growth in the industry, performance marketing is a long way away from the Wild West reputation it once had. An interesting article from Shop Direct Group's Online Marketing Executive, Ryan Jones, reflects on some of the affiliate industry's biggest accomplishments since his involvement began.
